The Pavilion

Street exhibition branding · Public-space design

Context

A public street exhibition on The Delph Market Square, Swadlincote, celebrating the town’s position at the heart of The National Forest.
The exhibition explored the positive impact of large-scale tree planting — from wildlife and climate action to local enterprise.

Accessibility & Design Approach

  • Simple, recognisable brand inspired by the exhibition structure

  • Nature-based colour palette with strong contrast for outdoor readability

  • Clear layouts designed for quick scanning in a public space

  • Exhibition boards structured for clarity, hierarchy, and legibility

  • Content-led design using supplied copy, refined for public understanding

Collaboration

Delivered in partnership with South Derbyshire County Council, Burton & South Derbyshire College, The National Forest Company, and Creative Melon.

Outcome

A clear, accessible public exhibition that communicated complex environmental themes in a way that was easy to understand, visually calm, and inclusive for a wide public audience.

Why This Matters

Design decisions prioritised clarity, hierarchy, and legibility in a real-world public setting — demonstrating accessible graphic design beyond screens and digital interfaces.
